The absence of a condition report does not imply than an item is free from defects or restoration, nor does a reference to particular defects imply the absence of others. Condition reports are offered as a courtesy and are typically published in Moran's catalogue or can be made available upon request. (c) Property Sold 'As Is': Neither Moran's nor the seller provides any guarantee in relation to the nature of the property, or to any errors or omissions in the catalogue or supplemental material apart from the Limited Warranty stated below. Though buyers are not legally required to inspect lots prior to purchase, failure to do so may constitute a waiver of complaint that an item was not delivered in a condition equal to the existent condition at the auction. (b) Buyer's Responsibility: Buyers are responsible for determining to their own satisfaction the true nature and condition of any lot prior to bidding. Prospective buyers are strongly encouraged to personally examine any property in which they are interested. In many cases, particular lots can be examined in advance by private appointment. (a) Public Preview: All property is available for inspection by public preview during the day of auction. The contract for the sale of the property is therefore made between the seller and the buyer. Terms and Conditions for John Moran AuctioneersĮxcept as otherwise stated, John Moran Auctioneers Moran's) acts as agent for the seller. Backing with fold discolorations and staining throughout. Minor soiling and staining scattered throughout. Condition: Overall good condition commensurate with age and use.this example, with its allover navy ground, makes the multicolored patches sing and evoke a sort of Mary Blair aesthetic. Tricky to piece together, it wasn't a pattern a novice quilter would have undertaken. Though the Amish do not wear wedding rings themselves, the symbolism of the quilt found appeal among them in the 1940s. Notes: One of the most recent quilting patterns, the Double Wedding ring was introduced in 1935 but has roots in other interlocking ring design motifs going back centuries.Kraybill et al., A Quiet Spirit: Amish Quilts from the Collection of Cindy Tietze & Stuart Hodosh, UCLA Fowler Museum of Cultural History, 1996, pg. Happy piecing!Ĭharm squares Chinese Coins Quilts Floral Coins Blocks Four patch quilt Pre Cuts Scrap quilt Singer 201K susies-scraps. These blocks are so pretty and come together really quickly! It’s Sunday afternoon and the slow cooker is on with my Braised Steak and Onions so I had time to sew. Today I’m sewing on this Singer 201k treadle. Repeat for the other 96 coins to make 25 blocks in total.

I’m trying to be very random about how I put these together, in terms of colour. Sew 2 sets together to make a block 4 1/2″ x 8 1/2″.

Sew two of the 4 1/2″ x 2 1/2″ floral coins on the long sides, right sides together. This is going to be a super fast and easy small quilt.ġ00 of 4 1/2″ x 2 1/2″ assorted floral rectangles (coins) for the blocks.ġ02 extra of the floral rectangles 4 1/2″ x 2 1/2″ to complete the quilt. Of course, you may be wondering why I am making blocks for a Coin Quilt? Why not just keep sewing? Well, I figured it will help to keep the rows nice and straight. I used some scraps and left over charm squares. These are my Floral Coin rectangles, just finished cutting. I’m inspired to make a beautiful Coin quilt in lots of florals. They may have been barkcloth but I’m not sure.Ī Coin Quilt is a quilt which traditionally has lots of long thin blocks placed one ontop of another, just like coins, then they are sewn into strips. I’ve always wanted to make a coin quilt or sometimes called a Chinese Coin quilt, but I didn’t really have the right inspiration until I saw an antique Coin quilt made with florals. Some other examples of one patch blocks are the hexagon, coffin shape or apple core. These are shapes which can be machine pieced. Some obvious examples of one patch blocks other than a square, are triangles, diamonds, an isosceles trapezoid (what we would call a tumbler block), or a rectangle/brick shape or even the Dresden plate. It’s quite mathematically satisfying to use one replicated shape to make a beautiful quilt or quilted object. There is something about one patch quilts which I believe is endearing to most quilters.
